Daytime Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers lend their skills in:

  • Gardening and grounds care
  • Maintenance support
  • Historical interpreting
  • Museum and program assistance

These roles are generally daytime positions and offer a wonderful way to meet new people while contributing meaningful work in a friendly, historic setting.

Special Event Volunteers

Our special events bring the Village to life. Volunteers assist with:

  • Food service
  • Parking and guest services
  • Set-up and take-down
  • Ticketing and event support

These roles are often on weekends or evenings and are a great way to begin volunteering at Haney.

Volunteers receive training and support while gaining valuable experience in a welcoming and collaborative environment.

In appreciation, volunteers receive:

  • Complimentary admission to events they are volunteering at
  • A meal during event shifts
  • An end-of-season Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
  • Recognition and milestone awards based on hours served

Students can also earn volunteer hours and letters of acknowledgment.

Volunteer in Our Archives

Do you enjoy working behind the scenes? Have an eye for detail? Love local history?

Our Archives Department offers a year-round weekday volunteer opportunity for individuals who want to help preserve the documentary history of Salmon Arm and the area.

Archives volunteers work as part of a small, specialized team and may assist with:

  • Cataloguing historical records and artifacts
  • Scanning and digitizing photographs
  • Data entry and database organization
  • Research assistance
  • Preparing materials for researchers
  • Handling and preserving fragile historical documents

This role is ideal for individuals who:

  • Are comfortable using a computer
  • Have strong attention to detail
  • Appreciate careful, methodical work
  • Value confidentiality
  • Take pride in preserving community history

Archives volunteering offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the preservation of our collective story. It is especially well-suited to history enthusiasts, retirees, students considering museum or archival studies, or anyone who enjoys focused, thoughtful work in a quiet setting.
