Dear Volunteers,
On behalf of the R.J. Haney Heritage Village staff - we can't say thank-you enough!
In just the first seven weeks you have donated over 293 hours of time. The value you bring to preserving the heritage of Salmon Arm is truly unmeasurable.
Melissa gives a shout out to Liz for tea cup washing. It's not a small job. She also really appreciates the lovely ladies that set-up the Haney House this year. She could never get all that work done on her own. Your eye for detail was greatly appreciated, including the ironing!
Kayden pointed out how Marlene noticed the sausages weren't shiny enough and the pie needed glazing. The dedication to detail showed by our volunteers inspires him to notice the small things too.
Tara she loves how our Volunteers recognize when things need to be done. R.J. Haney Heritage Village Volunteers are quick to step up and lend a hand.
Sara can't believe how many people she watches make their way down the stairs to the archives every week. She appreciates Raymond's tolerance of her attempts top communicate in French. C'est bon! Lets not miss our youngest regular volunteer, Levi, at just ten years old! She is also grateful to have met her first Mrs. Haney, also known as Judith.
Sara with an 'h' loves Randy's commitment to his character.
Ashley mentioned that she has watched the actors work with Peter over the years and has always wanted to take part. She says finally getting to work with him in the workshop was just as much fun as she imagined it would be.
Jasmine says the two volunteer 'kids' during school house training were perfectly poorly behaved. She says the training really pushed her, making her more comfortable in her role.
Michelle enjoys how friendly our volunteers are. She always learns something from them and you can tell how much they really care. She appreciates how they extend that that to our young staff.
Susan says our volunteers are an important part of the R.J. Haney heritage Village family. We couldn't do this without them.
"They are the support we need when we need it," is how Bruce described our volunteers. He pointed out how invaluable Doug is, helping put up the cables and flags to draw more attention to our front gate. "There's nothing he won't attempt", specifically pointing out the bookcases and moldings.
Gary Cruikshank is always here. He's literally unstoppable. Every maintenance employee mentioned him.
Raymond wanted to say how he appreciated that everyone was cheerful and helpful during the Work Bee. "Things go smoothly", he said, "because we all work together all the way down to sharing the tools." It was fabulous to see that so many volunteers who couldn't make the Work Bee date itself arranged to still take part.
Jessie wanted to give a pre-event shout out to our parking assistants. That role is invaluable he says. It could be chaos without them.
From Trena getting her steps in while hanging posters, the volunteer cast showing up to talk about scripts to Sharon's incredible Fiber Art our models will show off at High Tea on June 1st, you have all already had a huge hand in getting the 2025 season to a great start.
While we know you volunteer because you enjoy community involvement we want to show our thanks. Our first thank - you draw will happen on May 31st. Every Volunteer hour gets your name in the bucket for a family photo session here on the Haney Heritage Village site. Something personal; from us to you. You can use this session with your family or give to someone you care about. We will draw a name each month going forward through the rest of the season.
With much gratitude,
The R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum staff.
