Heritage Week 2025

Pie Events and Community Spirit

Heritage Week 2025 at R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum was a resounding success, uniting community members, pie enthusiasts, and local businesses to celebrate our shared heritage.

Best of the Shuswap Pie Baking Contest

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, our pie-baking contest showcased incredible talent and fierce competition. A huge congratulations to our winners:

• 1st Place: Bonnie Peterson with her Tart Cherry Pie
• 2nd Place: Norma Harish with her Pink Lady Apple Pie
• 3rd Place: Kate Korda with her Fresh BC Apple Pie

A heartfelt thank you to our pie judges and everyone who entered a pie – your passion made the contest a tremendous success! We're already gearing up for the 30th Annual Best of the Shuswap Pie Baking Contest in 2026. Aspiring bakers, now's the time to perfect your recipes—the old-fashioned way from scratch, whether you craft apple, fruit, or berry pie. Prove your pie-baking prowess and join us next year for another round of delicious competition. Winners will claim a prestigious title, a commemorative ribbon, dinner theatre tickets for two to the 2026 "Villains and Vittles" Summer Dinner Theatre Production, and an invitation to contribute a pie to the Best of the Shuswap Pie Auction.

Live Pie Auction

At the Mall at Piccadilly, our Live Pie Auction was a true showstopper. Seventeen pies were up for bids, and the Old Guys Yoga Club made headlines by winning Deb and Ken Neilson's Ginger Pear Pie with Brown Butter for an impressive $7,000.00. In total, the Live Pie Auction raised an incredible $64,650.00. Our sincere thanks go to all the pie bakers who donated their masterpieces and the enthusiastic bidders who supported this event. Special thanks are due to Jim Grieve, our dynamic auctioneer, and Bill Laird for organizing and motivating our bidders.

Online Activities

Heritage Week also featured engaging online activities, including a online auction. We thank everyone who donated, participated, bid, and supported these digital events, further connecting our community during this celebratory week.

We are deeply thankful to our volunteers, donors, and community partners—including the Mall at Piccadilly—whose dedication has been vital in supporting the incredible projects and programs at R.J.
