Safety is a shared responsibility.  Let’s work together to keep the Village and Museum safe.

What should you expect while visiting R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum during Covid-19?

Before you arrive:

  • Every visit should start with a trip to our website to check for updates and Covid-19 safety alerts before you arrive.
  • Stay home if you are feeling sick or you have been in contact with someone who is ill. Or have been told to self-isolate by public health.
  • Visitors who are unwell or who are displaying signs of Covid-19 will not be permitted entry.
  • Come prepared with your own “Covid-kit,” including hand sanitizer and a non-medical mask.

When you arrive:

  • Bend the curve, not the rules.
  • We do not require masks to be worn outside while visiting the Village. However, we recommended customers and visitors to wear a mask inside all buildings unless seated in the restaurant.
  • Use hand sanitizer before entering.
  • Cash is accepted, but contactless payment methods like debit or credit are strongly encouraged.

During your visit:

  • Please behave responsibly.
  • Follow all signage in the Village, buildings, Sprig of Heather Restaurant, Children’s Discovery Centre and outdoor play area.
  • Wash or sanitize your hands often.
  • Yield doorways, stairs and ramps to exiting traffic.
  • When possible, create two metres distance between yourself and others by stepping to the side on pathways, roads and trails and not following directly behind the person or group in front of you.
  • Enhanced cleaning measures are in effect throughout the Village.
  • Hand-sanitizing stations are throughout the Village. Sanitize as often as possible.

Sprig of Heather Restaurant:

  • Sprig of Heather restaurant is open for indoor and outdoor dinning.
  • Cash is accepted, but contactless payment methods like debit or credit are strongly encouraged.

Broadview Schoolhouse Etiquette:

  • Use hand sanitizer before entering the School House
  • Follow physical distancing guidelines.

Children’s Museum and Discovery Centre:

  • Use hand sanitizer before entering the building to play.
  • Respect other families

Children’s Outdoor Play Area:

  • Use hand sanitizer before and after play
  • Respect other families
  • The Outdoor Play Area is not supervised. Use at your own risk
  • Bend the curve, not the rules!

Gold Panning Sleuth and Ring Toss

  • Use hand sanitizer before and after play.
  • Follow physical distancing guidelines.
  • Bend the curve, not the rules!

Haney House Etiquette:

  • Wait outside to be invited in by your interpreter.
  • Use hand sanitizer before entering the Haney House
  • Follow physical distancing guidelines.
  • Obey all signs, and please no touching.

Washroom Etiquette:

  • Yield doorway to exiting traffic.
  • Sanitize before entering.
  • Obey all signage.
  • Only flush toilet paper. Do not dispose of any wipes, masks, gloves or other objects in flush or outhouse toilets. Use wastebaskets.

Trail Etiquette:

  • Share trails, wave hello and make eye contact to acknowledge the need for safe spacing.
